Description
| This replication package contains code and documentation for research on gender inequality, pay transparency, and job search in Pakistan, using data from Rozee.pk, a major Pakistani online job search platform. The underlying research data cover job postings, job applications, job-seeker profiles, firms and employers, salary information, non-wage job amenities, hiring outcomes, and worker and firm surveys. The administrative platform data cover the period 2019–2024. Additional data originate from a 2025 field experiment on salary disclosure, as well as firm and worker surveys and secondary labour-market data. The research examines gender differences across different stages of the job-search and hiring process, with particular attention to the roles of labour supply, labour demand, salary transparency, worker sorting and bargaining, and employer preferences. A randomized field experiment investigates the effects of salary-range disclosure on application and hiring outcomes. Survey and discrete-choice-experiment data provide additional information on worker preferences, beliefs and bargaining behaviour and on firms’ recruitment decisions. The underlying Rozee.pk data are proprietary and cannot be publicly released. The replication package therefore provides code for reproducing the analyses from the restricted data rather than the underlying microdata.

Related Dataset
| The research combines administrative data from the Rozee.pk online job platform with randomized field experiments, firm surveys, worker surveys, discrete choice experiments, and secondary labour-market data. Platform records capture job postings, applications, job-seeker characteristics, employer characteristics, salary information and hiring-related outcomes. The 2025 field experiment randomly varies salary disclosure in job postings. Firm and worker surveys complement the platform data with information on recruitment decisions, job preferences, beliefs, bargaining behaviour and related labour-market attitudes. |

Documentation and Access to Sources
| Restricted underlying data. The underlying research data are proprietary and were obtained from Rozee.pk under a data-use agreement. They cannot be publicly released. The deposited replication package therefore contains replication code and documentation but not the proprietary source data. |
